What’s the difference between a turnkey engine and a crate-only engine?
A turnkey engine is just what it sounds like – bolt it in, and you can get going right away. It has all the bells and whistles you want, fully assembled and tested by Superformance. This is our specialty and gives you out-of-the box performance with unmatched peace of mind.
A crate engine (base engine) is the starting point engine block – it still needs accessories, tuning and setup before you’re ready to drive away. If you’re not sure what you're after, our team can help! Why not contact us today.
What is an engine dyno?
An engine dynamometer measures torque and rotational speed (RPM) of your engine. We use an engine test stand (sometimes called a run stand) to test our range, and can use dynos on request – either way we will always verify the build and make sure everything is in top shape before it gets to you.
What engine is right for my car?
That depends on your car, the horsepower you need, and whether you like to DIY or have all the bells and whistles taken care of ahead of time. What is the typical lead time for a custom turnkey engine build?
Basic engine packages can be assembled and ready in as little as 4-6 weeks subject to parts availability, whereas forced induction, high-power and custom solutions will need more time. Contact us about your needs to get a more accurate estimate of time involved.
