Performance Ford 9-Inch Differentials
The Ford 9-inch is one of the most versatile differential designs available for modified street and competition vehicles. Its removable third member, extensive component range and ability to be built in custom widths make it suitable for a wide variety of classic cars, hot rods, muscle cars and pickups.
Superformance does not use one standard specification for every build. We select the housing, centre, gear ratio, axles and brakes according to the vehicle and its intended use.

A Superformance Ford 9-inch is not selected from one standard specification. Every assembly is developed around the complete vehicle and how it will be used.
We consider the engine output, transmission ratios, tyre diameter, vehicle weight, suspension, wheel fitment and intended driving before recommending the housing, centre, gear ratio, axle and brake combination.

Jig-Built Differentials You Can Rely On
Correct housing alignment is critical when narrowing a differential, replacing housing ends or adding suspension brackets. Superformance differentials are built to order using dedicated jigs and fixtures to maintain the required width, alignment and bracket positioning.
If requested, the centre, gearset, axles and brakes are then assembled to the approved specification before the completed differential is supplied or installed.

Supply Only or Workshop Installation
Your completed differential can be supplied for installation by you or your preferred workshop. Superformance can also carry out the installation as part of a complete driveline or suspension upgrade.
Related workshop services include housing and bracket fabrication, four-link or leaf-spring mounting, brake installation, brake-line work, parking-brake setup and tailshaft measurement or modification.

Do you only sell Ford 9-inch differentials?
No. Superformance supplies differential components and complete assemblies from a range of leading differential manufacturers. We also specialise in custom-built Ford 9-inch differentials designed around the vehicle, power level and intended use.
Can you supply differential products that are not shown online?
Yes. Our online catalogue does not represent every product available through our Australian and American suppliers. If you know the brand and part number you require, send the details to our team and we can check availability, pricing and estimated lead time.

Can you help identify the correct differential part?
Yes. Vehicle details, differential type, brand, part numbers and photographs can help us identify the correct component. Information about the engine, transmission, current gear ratio and intended use may also be required to confirm suitability.

Do you sell complete differential assemblies?
Yes. We can supply complete bolt-in and built-to-order rear-end assemblies, depending on the vehicle and application. We also build custom Ford 9-inch differentials with the housing, centre, gear ratio, axles, brakes and suspension mounting selected to suit the complete vehicle.

Can you build a differential to a custom width?
Yes. Custom-width housings and axle packages are available through our Superformance Ford 9-inch differential program. The final width can be specified around the vehicle, suspension, wheels, tyres, backspace and desired track width.
All required measurements and wheel specifications must be confirmed before manufacturing begins.
Do you install differentials?
Yes. Our Brisbane workshop offers differential installation and related fabrication services for classic cars, hot rods, muscle cars and pickups.
Depending on the project, this may include housing modifications, suspension brackets, leaf-spring or four-link fitment, brake upgrades, brake-line work, parking-brake setup and tailshaft measurement or modification.
Can you help select the correct differential gear ratio?
Yes. The correct gear ratio depends on several factors, including the engine's operating range, transmission ratios, overdrive ratio, tyre diameter, vehicle weight and intended use.
Our team can recommend a suitable ratio for street, touring, performance or competition use. Providing your current drivetrain and tyre details will help us make a more accurate recommendation.

Do complete differential assemblies require engineering approval?
Engineering requirements depend on the vehicle, the extent of the modification and the state or territory where the vehicle will be registered.
Changes to differential width, suspension mounting, brakes, wheel track or chassis components may require approval. We recommend discussing the planned modifications with an appropriately qualified automotive engineer before manufacturing or installation begins.
