Nine times out of ten, it's not the carburettor itself, it's a mismatch of parts that will never work right.
Bolt a high-flow carby onto a tired stock motor or stock intake and you've built a bottleneck. Bolt a high-rise single plane intake onto a mild street motor and you’ll lose low-end torque, responsiveness and drivability. The carb can only work with the airflow the motor and manifold offers, and a mismatched combo means you're chasing tune-ups on a setup that was never going to work properly to begin with.
The fix is matching the two from the start and sizing both to the requirements of your engine, not guessing at compatibility part by part.
